Submitting Responses
How do I submit a response?
See our Submit page for instructions!
What are your guidelines for submissions? Can I take a selfie in my favorite place?
Hmmm. Great question. There are no restrictions on the style or content of your response, but if any submission contains inappropriate or hurtful content it will not be published. As for selfies, we ask that you do not include this but rather focus on making place your subject matter.
Can I submit more than one response?
Yes! We welcome more than one response per person, recognizing that there may be multiple places you want to share.
Can I submit a response with another person?
Yes! We encourage all sorts of creative expressions of place either by yourself or with others.
Can I put the name of the place in my response?
We will not be posting responses that have the name of the actual place in the submission. Your response is an act of re-naming place separate from its “given name” and by this you create a new engagement with place.
What are the maximum size limits of my submissions?
The following are guidelines for responses:
Painting/sketch or scan, 1MB Max.
Video: from 10 to 60 seconds Max.
Sound: from 10 to 60 seconds Max.
Photography: one image, 3MB Max.
Creative writing: 1-300 words Max.
Can I submit two different media in one response? For example, creative writing with a sound file?
Yes! The studio encourages creative responses using any of the modes of expression we can support: photography, sound, drawings/paintings, dance, sound, music, creative writing. See HERE for file guidelines.
Can I create a reading of my creative writing in a sound file?
Yes, please! We would love to hear your voice as a response to The Place Where Project.
Can I delete a response?
Yes! Send along an email in a timely fashion to the studio and we will delete your submission.
Can I use my name in the response?
We ask that you refrain from using your name in your response to keep all responses anonymous.
What is the timeline for submissions?
Submissions are accepted through December 30, 2020!
Public Outreach
Can I send this prompt to anyone I know?
Yes, we would love that! You can send them a link to The Place Where Project website or social media account, which contain the prompt.
What Hashtags are being used?
We are using the hashtag #theplacewhereproject on social media and invite you to also use this hashtag to share your work!
Does every submission get put up on Social Media?
As much as we wish for every submission to be put on social media, responses will be curated for upload to social media as we may not have the capacity to include everyone’s response.
What are you going to do with these submissions?
The submissions will be uploaded to an online gallery (webpage), posted on social media, and eventually made into an e-book.
Where can I find the responses on Social Media?
Responses will be posted on The Place Where Project Instagram and Facebook accounts and can be shared on your own social media accounts!
Why aren’t names used in the display of the posts?
In order to honor the places that are shared in this project and to genuinely listen to these responses with open eyes and hearts, we have decided not to include names. We feel that this will allow for more place to place connection and engagement.
